My name is Alison Healey. I am a 38 year old cancer survivor and have been a patient of Dr. Zhenzhen Zhang for about two years now. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35, had chemotherapy, bilateral mastectomy and radiation in addition to various preventative treatments since my diagnosis. As part of the HOPES program through Mass General Hospital I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Deguang He and start acupuncture sessions with him to treat some adverse effects of the induced menopause I had been put in since the onset of my chemotherapy as part of my treatment.
After a few sessions I realized that this form of therapy was good for my whole body. I was lucky to learn that Dr. Zhang was able to see me at a location closer to my home so I could have treatments weekly. I only wish I had known about acupuncture sooner so I could have started with this therapy at the beginning of my cancer treatment, as I believe now, that acupuncture would have helped to lessen some of the residual effects of my treatment regimen.
Dr. Zhang has been wonderful throughout my years of treatment. From the beginning she closely listened to my symptoms and what I hoped to accomplish with the acupuncture sessions. She immediately assured me she would be able to help me and she put me at ease from the moment I stepped into her room. Each week she is able to assess what my body is struggling with and treats me accordingly. And each week I leave her feeling the positive effects of what she does so effortlessly.
Dr. Zhang is a caring, intelligent and talented acupuncturist. It is a pleasure dealing with her office to set up appointments and I have never had her cancel or change an appointment in the two years I have been seeing her. When I needed to travel out of state, for 4 months, for work she personally spoke with the other doctor before I started treatments, putting me at ease once again. She is always on time and she always has time for me if I need it.
Suffice it to say, I know I would not be as happy, healthy or as well balanced if it were not for Dr. Zhang and her amazing ability to heal!
